The first trailer for Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s first film since wrapping up the Dark Knight trilogy, hit the Internet on Friday. Surprisingly, the trailer does reveal some information on the plot, providing the launch point for the film.
Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey as an engineer in a world that doesn’t need engineers. Food is disappearing and humans will go extinct if they don’t leave earth. Humanity was born here, but that doesn’t mean it’s supposed to die here, as the trailer text points out. Scientists have figured out a way to use wormholes to travel through space and time, which will help humanity reach previously unreachable space.
Nolan regular Michael Caine is spotted as a scientist, while Jessica Chastain is also seen briefly. However, they are just two of McConaughey’s co-stars. Casey Affleck, Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway are also set to star in the film.
Interstellar is a Warner Bros. and Paramount co-production and will be rleeased in November in IMAX. Expect this film to be a top contender during award season.
