An ex-United Airlines employee and his wife will be spending the next several months in jail after being convicted of stealing a passenger’s luggage amidst the Asiana Airlines crash chaos.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, former customer service agent, Sean Sharif Crudup, was sentenced to 9 months in prison after being convicted of grand theft and second-degree burglary. His wife was also convicted on the same charges and will serve 6 months behind bars.

Authorities said that surveillance video showed Crudup entering an empty luggage office and stealing an unattended bag while flights were being diverted to another airport after the Asiana Flight 214 crash.

The 44-year-old ex-employee is then seen handing the luggage off to his 32-year-old accomplice and wife, Raychas Elizabeth Thomas.

The duo returned several thousand dollars of merchandise found in the luggage to a Nordstrom store.

In addition to their prison terms, the Los Angeles Times noted that the couple was given three years' probation and ordered to pay restitution of almost $6,000 to the department store.
