Former Vice President Dick Cheney has said that President Barack Obama is a “very, very weak president” and likely the weakest he’s ever seen in his lifetime. His comments come just after Obama announced his plans for the future in Afghanistan.

Cheney was on Fox NewsHannity, where he told host Sean Hannity, “He is a very, very weak president, maybe the weakest, certainly in my lifetime.” He added that he recently met with authorities in the Middle East, who all believe that the U.S.’ influence in the region has been dimmed by Obama’s policies.

“We’ve got a problem with weakness, it’s centered right in the White House,” Cheney commented.

He later suggested that Obama is acting like he wasn’t even around when the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks happened and that Obama has forgotten why the U.S. is in Afghanistan in the first place.

“The reason we went into Afghanistan is because 19 guys armed with airline tickets and box cutters who had trained in Afghanistan, were supported out of Afghanistan by al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, came over here and killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11,” Cheney said.

According to Politico, Cheney called Obama’s plans to scale-back the U.S.’ military presence in Afghanistan “stupid, unwise and will in fact just reinforce the notion that we’re weak and that we have a president that doesn’t understand his obligations.”

Obama said earlier this week that just 9,800 troops will stay in Afghanistan past 2014 and the reductions will continue before he leaves the Oval Office.
