Uh-oh, it appears that things are not always glamorous at Marvel Studios, as recent reports reveal that director Edgar Wright has just dropped out of the upcoming superhero movie Ant-Man.
As The Hollywood Reporter, the studio and the filmmaker himself have issued a statement out stating that Wright has left the project. According to the statement, the director has left the project "due to differences in their vision of the film."
"The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly," the statement would also go on to state.
Considering that Wright has been on the superhero movie since 2006, also writing the film with co-writer Joe Cornish, this news is both unexpected and disappointing, especially for Wright's fans waiting to see him make another big budget movie in the vein of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
What is also shocking about this news, as THR reports, is that his decision comes when the movie is already late in its post-production, with most of the film's cast, including Paul Rudd as the title superhero, as well as Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson, just to name a few, already announced and ready to go.
Many details are unclear about this at the moment, including whether or not the movie will still be shooting off of Wright and Cornish's script and why Wright decided to leave after having worked on this movie for so long? Despite these questions being unanswered at this time, it is still disappointing nonetheless to see Wright go.
