Dimension Films released a series of character posters for the Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, recently. While the film promises to push the boundaries of the R rating as far as possible, it turns out that you can’t get away with that on a poster. The image with Eva Green’s character in particular was way too much for the Motion Picture Association of America.
The poster highlights Green’s green eyes, red nail polish... oh, and her amazing figure thanks to a sheer nightgown. According to The New York Post’s Page Six, it shows too much figure and the MPAA has rejected it for display in theaters.
The MPAA gave a very specific reason for turning down the poster, writing that it was “for nudity” since the “curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”
Dimension, which is a label owned by The Weinstein Company appears to be using this as a badge of honor, writing on Facebook, “Looks like #EvaGreen is too sexy for Hollywood.”
Green is just one member of the large ensemble cast put together for A Dame To Kill For, which is based on the popular Frank Miller comic series. Miller co-directed the film with Robert Rodriguez.
The film also stars Jessica Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, Bruce Willis, Josh Brolin and Mickey Rourke. It hits theaters on Aug. 22.
