Authorities said that a Port Charlotte, Florida man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife after a marriage-counseling session the couple had with their church deacon.

According to FOX 4, Jeanwell Napolean was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after the marriage-counseling session last Friday.

The family pastor said that he was counseling the couple and the husband did not seem angry, but rather upset because he thought his wife was cheating on him.

The deacon obviously thought the counseling session would be beneficial, but when he left the couple alone and went outside for a moment he said he heard screams coming from the home.

The churchman told investigators that when he made it back up to the house Napolean was already stabbing his wife with a large knife.

NBC 2 reported that the 50-year-old is accused of stabbing Marie Napolean several times in her left bicep, middle abdomen and lower back.

He is being held at the local county jail without bond.
