Francesca Battistelli released her third album If We’re Honest this year and the Grammy-nominated Christian singer has taken her music to an upbeat sound, with the sounds of a rhythmic drum beat and other instruments behind her songs. She takes us on a journey through life in an upbeat and positive way, showing just how much she has grown as an artist, especially as she has gone though life’s many paths.
The album stars with “Write Your Story,” which has a lively sound and is a great lead in for the next songs that come along. The album takes us on a journey with Battistelli, much like her first two albums. The album’s title track “If We’re Honest” is a slow, moving song about the power of honesty and showcases Battistelli’s beautiful vocals.
According to her website, Battistelli likened her albums as following along with different stages of her life. Her first album My Paper Heart came out while she was figuring out what God had in store for her after college and her second album Hundred More Years reflected her journey as a married woman and expectant mother.
With her third album, it is more personal and reflective of her life after figuring out where her journey has taken her. Every song on the album is fun to listen to, as well as to sing along with, and it is clear through her music, she is passionate about the emotions and words behind the songs.
While many of the songs are on the fast side, “Find Rest” is one of the songs that is a bit slower, but still has the same passion and emotion in regards to finding hope in God. Her music is a beautiful reflection of the journey in finding your faith and the album is sure to be another hit for this talented singer.
