Developer 343 Industries revealed on Friday that the next entry into the Master Chief saga Halo 5: Guardians would be coming to Microsoft's Xbox One in fall 2015.
Bonnie Ross, 343 Industries general manager, said in a statement, "In the tradition of every 'Halo' game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project." Ross also noted that the game is a "bigger effort than 'Halo 4.'"
It was reiterated that the Xbox One game would be running at 60 frames per second and would also have dedicated servers. The team is also taking what they learned about working on Halo 4 and improving upon that, in addition to making sure they are taking advantage of the more advanced tech that the latest Microsoft console offers.
The developer also announced today that the Steven Spielberg-produced Halo television would be released around the same time, but offered no new information on the project, simply teasing fans that it's still in the works and that it will be independent of the video game series.
While Ross said that the company's 2014 plans would be announced at 343's E3 media briefing on June 9, it is likely that more about the next Halo game will also be revealed.
