NBC's Hannibal will be returning for a third season on the peacock network. The fate of the NBC drama was very unknown and the show was on the bubble of being renewed or cancelled.
Hannibal stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen.
The drama was renewed because of international success and a strong fan base.
The show has been renewed even after a decrease in ratings when the show airs on Friday night, Entertainment Weekly reported.
NBC added that Hannibal attracts the youngest audience of any 10 p.m. broadcast drama. The show has also been performing well on DVR growing to 72 percent. Even with strong DVR numbers, the show was only averaging 3.6 million viewers and 1.4 ratings on Friday night.
Variety also added that NBC has picked up the freshman comedy About a Boy. The show stars David Walton and Minnie Driver and has been averaging 8.3 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the demo.
The fate of another popular NBC drama is not known. The show Revolution has not been picked up or canceled by the network.
