This week, Iggy Azalea will be sitting all “Fancy” with Charlie XCX at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 as her first charting single rockets to #1. According to Billboard, Azalea crowns the Hot 100 after reaching the top five on radio songs and by leading digital and streaming songs.
At number two is Iggy Azalea again; only this time as a feature for Ariana Grande’s “Problem”. Iggy ties the Beatles’ 50 year-old record for the only artists to take their first two billboard hits to the top two spots simultaneously. The “Work” MC becomes only the third female rapper to crown the Hot 100 as a lead artist after Lil Kim topped it with “Lady Marmalade” in 2001 and Lauryn Hill topped it in 1998 with “Doo Wop (That Thing)”.
Last week’s #1 “All of Me” by John Legend falls to number three this week. “Happy” by Pharrell and DJ Snake and Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What" rounds out the top five at numbers four and five, respectively.
After this groundbreaking achievement, Iggy took to twitter to show her gratitude.
Well I'm very pleased, last year seemed impossible to convince anyone in the music business I could break into the top 100. Haha.
