An Indiana man was arrested by the FBI Thursday night after he made threats against the speaker of the house.
Brandon J. Thompson threatened John Boehner over Congress not extending unemployment insurance. The 32-year-old has been arrested on a count of making interstate threats, reports USA Today.
The FBI said Thompson allegedly began threatening Boehner on March 31 in a message through the speaker's website, which read: "You want to play with 2.7 million peoples lives I am going to take yours you will never see it coming with my sniper rifle..."
An FBI affidavit says the Indiana man called and left a message on May 1 threatening to come after her "oompa loompa (expletive) husband" and that he would tear Boehner's head off over the lack of unemployment insurance votes. Thompson then left another message on May 6 saying, "He's not untouchable. I will get my hands on him."
According to the Muncie Star Press, Thompson's unemployment benefits expired early into 2014. He was receiving $341 a week, but was ineligible for more coverage after Congress didn't extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program.
Thompson admitted to the FBI that he was the one sending the messages.
