Jake Gyllenhaals most recent thriller Nightcrawler has received U.S. distribution. Open Road Films has purchased all U.S. rights the the film.
Gyllenhaals is playing the lead in the thriller along with, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed, Variety reported.
Nightcrawler will mark the directorial debut of Dan Gilory. Gilory wrote Real Steel and the most recent Bourne Legacy.
The movie will tell the story of a motivated man, played by Gyllenhaal, who uncovers the nocturnal world of freelance crime journalism in Los Angeles. Most of the film was shot on location in Los Angeles. Nightcrawler was given a $2.3 million production tax credit to film on location in southern California.
Jennifer Fox, Tony Gilroy, Bold Films’ Chairman Michel Litvak and David Lancaster will be producing the film along with Gyllenhaals.
Gyllenhaals' other upcoming project about a boxer, Southpaw, was also promoted at the Cannes film festival, Vulture added.
Sierra/Affinity will be handling international sales at the Cannes festival for Nightcrawler.
