Convicted killer, Joran van der Sloot, is set to be married and become a father while he is behind bars serving a 28-year prison sentence.

Van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez, told CNN that the Dutchman will be getting married to a Peruvian woman he befriended in the prison.

"They met when she was visiting a relative in prison. They became friends and spent a lot of time together in his cell," said Altez. "Unlike the United States, here in Peru loved ones or relatives can see inmates inside their jails."

CBS News reported that van der Sloot will marry his Peruvian girlfriend, Leidy Figueroa, who is five months pregnant, on May 22. The wedding will take place in the chapel of the maximum security prison.

The 26-year-old is serving his prison sentence for the 2010 murder of Stephany Flores. He is also the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American teenager, Natalee Holloway.

After he completes his term, he will be extradited to the United States to face charges that he extorted and defrauded Holloway’s family.
