Journey is about to head out on the road with frontman Arnel Pineda and they have plans to work on new music but before the world tour kicks off, the band had to take a moment to address rumors about their new music. Guitarist Neal Schon explained in a recent interview that Pineda will be the lead vocalist on the new music, no one else.
Billboard reported that rumors had been circulating about a reunion with Steve Perry as the frontman for the group. These rumors started hitting the Internet after Perry made positive remarks to reporters at a music event about Journey. Schon set the record straight at a press conference that was being held in advance of Journey's summer tour that will feature the Steve Miller Band and Tower Power.
"I think when Steve mentioned that, when somebody put him on the spot and asked him, we had been (communicating) with email, just saying, 'Hello, I hope you're well,' all that," said Schon. "But there was never anything about playing live. He opened the door and shut the door. It wasn't anybody but him that created all that media for a second, and so we do want to reassure the fans that no, Arnel has not gone anywhere. He's still right here with us."
USA Today added that Journey has sold over 75 million albums worldwide.
