According to Yahoo friends of the couple witnessed a woman dressed like a nurse walk into the room requesting the baby for a few routine tests. Thinking nothing of it, the couple handed their baby over. It was only 13 minutes later that the hospital realized what happened and began calling 911.
Utilizing social media, the couple put out an alert on Facebook when a group of 20-year-olds – Charlene Plante, Marc-Andre Cote, Sharelle Bergeron and Melizanne Bergeron – saw it and recognized the kidnapper as an old neighbor according to ABCNews.
"Best moment of [my] life," Melizanne Bergeron said. "We were crying."
The baby was returned to her parents within three hours of being abducted. Later on Melissa McMahon personally thanked the public through Facebook saying, “We felt a huge amount of support from the public. This victory is for you, too!!!”
