Macklemore has issued an apology following an outfit choice at a recent concert that made headlines around the world.

The incident took place after the first night of "Spectacle: The Music Video" exhibition at the EMP Museum in Seattle, Macklemore took to the stage to perform to a packed crowd. The rapper/singer was wearing a fake wig and beard along with a prosthetic nose.

After many took issue with the outfit choice and expressed their strong dislike across a variety of social media avenues, Macklemore posted an apology on his official website.

The statement which was several paragraphs started off the "Same Love" singer to everyone who had taken offense at the outfit, Billboard reported. "Family, friends and fans alike who know me well, know that I’m absolutely not the person described in certain headlines today. There is no worse feeling than being misunderstood, especially when people are hurt or offended."

Macklemore goes on to extend his sincere apologizes, "To anybody that I may have offended," noting, "It was surprising and disappointing that the images of a disguise were sensationalized leading to the immediate assertion that my costume was anti-Semetic [sic]."
