LeBron James certainly isn’t a trainwreck on the basketball court, but he will be participating in one on the big screen. The Miami Heat superstar is joining the cast of Trainwreck, Judd Apatow’s newest film.
This is actually the second Universal project that James has in the works. According to Deadline, the studio, which is producing Trainwreck, is also working on a film about James’ high school years. Frank E. Flowers is writing that project, with Rachel Winter and Terence Winter, James and the player’s manager Maverick Carter producing.
James is also not the only non-actor joining the production today. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that hip-hop star Method Man (real name: Cliff Smith) will also appear in the film.
Trainwreck is scheduled for release in July 2015. The film is the brainchild of Inside Amy Schumer star Amy Schumer, who wrote the script. Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton and John Cena also star in the film.
James will make his film debut in Ballers with Kevin Hart.
