Michael Eavis started out his career as a dairy farmer and is now only of the largest names in the music industry. Eavis is the founder of the world-famous Glastonbury Festival and will be honored with this years Music Industry Trust's Award.
Billboard reported that the ceremony will be taking place on Nov. 3rd in Central London.
Eavis is being honored for his “outstanding contribution to the U.K.’s live music industry and many charitable causes."
Glastonbury which has become one of the largest music festivals in the U.K., takes place at the Worthy Farm site in Somerset. The first festival was held back in 1970 with Marc Bolan on the bill.
Eavis discussed in a recent interview, the fact that when he started out on having a festival, he didn't realize it would become what it has today. "When I set out on this crazy hippy trip 44 years ago, little did I know how this roller coaster would run. But now I have to pinch myself every morning when I wake up to the excitement of another day - heading up a team of the most creative artists anywhere in the world," said Eavis.
