Michael Jace of The Shield fame has been charged with shooting his wife, April Jace, to death. He played a Los Angeles cop on the FX show.

Los Angeles Police Detective Lyman Doster said on Tuesday that April, 40, was found dead in the couple’s L.A. home on Monday night after police were called to the home. They took her husband into custody and charged him with suspicion of homicide on Tuesday morning.

According to CNN, Jace, 50, often plays a military officer or cop. He’s credited with shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NYPD Blue, Burn Notice, Private Practice and The Mentalist.

He was also in films such as Forrest Gump, Planet of the Apes and Boogie Nights.

Eric Crosson of the LAPD told Los Angeles Times the investigation is ongoing and they currently don’t know what caused the actor to shoot his wife.

TMZ reports Jace was the one to call the cops after he shot his wife. He was home alone when she came home with their two young sons – who witnessed the shooting death of their mother.
