Mitt Romney, a member of the Republican Party and former 2012 president candidate, announced a few days ago that he supports increasing minimum wage because it goes along with the ideals of the Republican party
.
During an interview with NBC News Romney said, “ I think we oughta raise it because, frankly, our party is about more jobs and better pay and I think communicating that is important to us.”
Romney affirms that if Republicans are stating that they are for the working middle class, then they should be for things that would help the working middle class out, such as adjusting minimum wage when needed.
While most Republicans disagree with the increase, Romney is not alone. In the past couple of weeks two other Republicans, Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum, also vocalized their view. It also has been noted that the three men come from predominantly Democratic states.
Rick Santorum doesn’t understand the Republican view on minimum wage. He says that 80 percent of Americans believe in minimum wage, but Republicans are telling them that minimum wage should be left alone. According to The Huffington Post
