Molly Ringwald joined the cast of the big screen adaptation of Jem and the Holograms on Tuesday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the casting choice, it isn't yet known what role the '80s teen film star will play in the film.

She is best known for her roles in Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club.

Ringwald's addition comes just a few hours after it was reported that Juliette Lewis has also joined the project, but again it isn't known yet who Lewis will play, other than it's a supporting role.

The titular cast consists of Aubrey Peoples as Jem, with Halyey Kiyoko, Aurora Perrineau and Stefanie Scott as the Holograms. Ryan Guzman was also recently cast to play Rio, Jem's love interest.

The film, set to be directed by John M. Chu, is based off the 1980's animated series that was first a Hasbro doll line about Jem and her band, the Holograms. Ryan Landels wrote the script.

Blumhouse Productions' Jason Blum, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis, SB Projects' Scooter Braun, Bennett Schneir and Chu are all on board to produce the film. Shooting has already started in Los Angeles.
