Rapper Nas, has been selected to kick off the Essence Festival weekend as one of the main headliners. The festival will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Prince will be the major headline at the Essence Festival and will be taking the stage on July 4th at the main stage.
Billboard reported that the festival will be starting on July 3, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
Other major headliners that will be taking the stage during the festival include Trey Songz, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, K. Michelle and Jazmine Sullivan. More artists will be announced at a later date.
Much like the festival, Nas is also celebrating the 20th anniversary. 20 years ago Nas released his 1994 debut album Illmatic.

XXL Magazine added that Nas will also be performing during the upcoming Boston Calling Music Festival which will also feature The Roots and Childish Gambino. The three-day festival will be taking place in Boston on September 5-7.
