Noah and Sophia have topped the list of the most popular baby names in U.S. last year, knocking off Michael and Jacob.
According to the Washington Post, on Friday, the Social Security Administration announced that Noah was the most popular name for a boy born in 2013. This was the first year since 1960 that a name other than Michael or Jacob ranked at the top of the list.
For baby girls born in 2013, Sophia was the most popular name for the third year in a row. The same name spelled with an “f” ranked 13th.
The Social Security Administration’s website provides the lists of the top 1,000 baby names for every year, dating back to 1880, when John and Mary reigned supreme.
CNN noted that Liam, Jacob, Mason, William, Ethan, Michael, Alexander, Jayden and Daniel rounded out the Top 10 names for boys. Meanwhile, Emma, Olivia, Isabella, Ava, Mia, Emily, Abigail, Madison and Elizabeth rounded out the Top 10 list for girls.
