Studies have shown that obesity rates have soared over the past 34 years around the world with at least 30 percent of the world now being overweight.
Results from research in over 188 countries show that over 2 million people in the world are either overweight or obese. The Middle East and Northern Africa have the highest rates at 65 percent of women being overweight and 60 percent of males. The U.S. has the highest amount of overweight people than any other country at 13 percent. India and China together have 15 percent overweight people in their countries, to Boston, noted.
Researchers have also noticed a pattern in obesity and wealth. The higher the income, the higher chance of the person being overweight or obese. Developed countries have high obesity rates while developing countries do not.
