Officials say Malaysia Airlines plane was not detected in the Indian Ocean

Government officials announced that the missing Malaysia Airlines plane was not found in an underwater search in the Indian Ocean.

The Australian Transport Safety Buereau (ATSB) said that it concluded that the Indian Ocean can be “discounted as the final resting place of MH370.”

According to The Guardian, search authorities said, “The joint agency co-ordination centre can advise that no signs of aircraft debris have been found by the autonomous underwater vehicle since it joined the search effort.”

Authorities will continue over a three month period to search for remains from the Boeing 777 that disappeared on March 8 after leaving Kuala Lumpur.

Some of the preliminary information has been acquired from “pings.” According to the Associated Press, U.S. Navy spokesman Chris Johnson said in a statement, referring to Australia and Malaysia,”Mike Dean's comments today were speculative and premature, as we continue to work with our partners to more thoroughly understand the data acquired by the Towed Pinger Locator."

The search will continue with sonar equipment.
