One person died and five people were injured after a small-passenger plane carrying French tourist crashed in Arizona on Saturday.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities said that the plane carrying a pilot and six passengers, flipped over when it attempted to land at the Page Municipal Airport.
The single-engine plane had trouble landing in windy conditions and Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the Cessna 207 crashed 400 to 500 feet short of the tarmac.
“The plane hit the sand and flipped over upside down,” Page Police Capt. Ray Varner told the Associated Press.
One person was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital and another is listed in stable conditions. Four other passengers suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and were treated and released. Another passenger apparently was not hurt and did not seek any medical treatment.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA said that an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
