Sir Paul McCartney is getting better following a virus that sent him to the hospital in Tokyo. He has just left Japan and is heading home to the U.K., where he will hopefully get some much-needed rest before his U.S. summer tour.
McCartney had been forced to cancel four shows in Japan and his first ever show in Seoul, South Korea earlier this month due to an illness. Reports that he was in the hospital had made Beatles fans around the world nervous, but the 71-year-old’s representatives reassured everyone that he will make a full recovery.
It appears that he is doing well enough now to leave the hospital. According to The Daily Mail, local media reports in Japan have said that he is already on his way to London. His wife, Nancy Shevell, was by his side at the hospital and is likely heading home with him.
McCartney has a couple of weeks to relax, since he is not scheduled to perform again until June 14 in Lubbock, Texas. That show will kick off another U.S. tour, which will conclude on Aug. 14 at Candlestick Park. McCartney will perform the final show there, where the Beatles gave their final paid performance together.
