Off of his new album G.I.R.L Pharrell Williams released a video for his new single “Marilyn Monroe” enlisting the help of a dozen female dancers.

Opening with a dream sequence, Pharrell climbs a hill to a blonde woman, and as he reaches for her, she disappears and he wakes up in bed. Throughout the video he’s surrounded by an eye-pleasing assortment of women, and clips of women doing everyday things (laughing, walking, lounging) weave in and out, diversely suggesting every girl is as beautiful as the original blonde bombshell was. Pharrell sings in and out different scenes; a dance rehearsal space, dressed matching an American themed room, and on a rooftop. With a little help from his friends, Kelly Osbourne shows up on the rooftop with a bow (as in bow-and-arrow), rewinding the video back to his dream speaking the line In honor of the groove and who’s surrendered to it/We say thank, and we take it back. Pharrell finishes the song dancing and singing in a party like atmosphere.

“Marilyn Monroe” is a catchy orchestral fused hip-hop groove with, of course, a catchy dance beat behind it. In his ever-smooth voice he sings She’s everything I want, it’s crystal clear/not even Marilyn Monroe/Queen Cleopatra please/Not even Joan of Arc/That don’t mean nothin’ to me/I just want a different girl.

The newly appointed The Voice coach’s album G.I.R.L. is out now.
