Rebel Wilson has been tapped to star in New Line's remake of the 1980 Goldie Hawn comedy Private Benjamin.
The updated version will follow Wilson as a redneck who along with a rich friend find themselves in over their heads when they join the Marines because they are in a tight spot, reports TheWrap. The original version had Hawn play a woman who joined the Army after her husband dies while they're having sex, according to Variety.
The film will be produced by Mark Gordon, but does not have a director selected just yet. The original Private Benjamin did quite well as it grossed $70 million at the box office and even inspired a television show.
No reports on when production is set to start, but might have to work around Wilson's schedule as she's signed on for Night at the Museum 3 will be starring, alongside Anna Kendrick, in a sequel to Pitch Perfect.
The Tracking Board was first to report Wilson's casting.
