Rescue efforts are underway for a South Carolina dog that has a metal pipe stuck around its head.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities have been trying to rescue the black and white canine with the ductwork stuck around its head for almost a week now.
Luckily, the dog can eat and drink because its mouth sticks out past the pipe.
The animal was first spotted on Monday and since then authorities have been setting traps and trying everything to get near the stray, but so far nothing has worked.
“We're doing the best we can. It's getting kind of aggravating because the dog is very timid and scared of people but we're doing the best we can,” said Ryan Overton, Senior Officer of the Oconee County Animal Control.
WSPA-TV reported that the dog may have been dumped in the area by its owner last year and most likely suffered abuse, which would explain its fear of humans.
