More than 20 years after his father’s death, De Niro is ready to show the world his dad’s most prized possessions. Including his father’s diaries that have him shed tears. The superstar actor brings to light his father’s sexual orientation and his stagnant artistic reputation. The premiere will air on June 9, according to Out.
The iconic film legend has been in classic movies such as Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale and The Godfather Part ll. Despite that he regrets one thing in his life. He regrets not being able to help his father before he died of cancer. He made a trip to Paris before his father died but it seemed to be to late. The documentary is an attempt to resurrect his father’s legacy.
De Niro premiered Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro Sr. at the Tribeca Film Festival this past April, reported by the New York Post. The documentary shows rage never before seen footage of the Taxi Driver actor as a young man.
