Selena Gomez has been pretty quiet recently and a close relative of the actress reveals that it may be due to her treatment for a serious medical disease.
USATODAY reports that pop-star Selena Gomez is in treatment for the autoimmune disease lupus. The news was confirmed by her grandfather, who spoke to Radar Online. Her Grandfather, Ricardo Gomez, confirms “She’s in treatment,” and that “She’s getting along pretty good.”
The former Disney star has been in a tempestuous relationship with Justin Bieber that has played out in the public eye, and Ricardo partly blames Justin for her recent stress saying that, “she was worried a lot about Justin.”
Selena Gomez has been busy these last few years by wrapping up her show Wizards of Waverly Place, shooting movies, shooting music videos, recording a #1 album, and going on a subsequent tour, that she later cancelled, to support it with no breaks in-between. Her grandfather revealed that the constant working ultimately affects her health negatively.
“She doesn’t know how to say no. She won’t take time for herself to relax, to eat well.” He said.
R&b legend Toni Braxton is another musician that suffers from lupus.
