In Kensington, Brooklyn at about 7:22 a.m. green smoke filled a school bus. On its way to Brooklyn Dreams Charter School, a bus carrying more than 40 students was victim to a smoke bomb. One of the students on the bus lighted and set off the novelty firework near Ocean Avenue and Dorchester Road – roughly 16 blocks from the school.

Once the driver noticed the smoke he instantly pulled over to open all of the windows and call for help. Soon after emergency responders arrived and brought 11 victims to the hospital as a precautionary measure according to NYDailyNews.
Amari Bhola, an 11-year-old boy, told reporters that the bus filled with green smoke which started at the back and slowly made its way towards the front via NBCNewYork. He said everyone was yelling "who did this, why would you do this?" and added that "People kept saying they couldn't breathe that well.”
Associate medical director for the fire department, Dario Gonzalez, said the children showed signs of teary eyes and shortness of breath but were all expected to be fine.
