Those who enjoyed the craziness which spawned from writer/director Harmony Korine's 2013 film Spring Breakers will be happy to know that spring break will be living on forever.

According to The Huffington Post, plans are being made by production company Wild Bunch to try to score funding for "Spring Breakers: The Second Coming."

The sequel, should it score funding next week at the Cannes Film Festival Film Market, will focus on what happened when "the title parties encounter an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them," Screen Daily writes.

The film is scripted by Irvine Welsh, the author of "Trainspotting" and plans are to have Jonas Akerland ("Spun") direct.

As Vincent Maravel, a spokesperson for Wild Bunch, noted to Screen Daily, this will not be a "direct sequel" to the original film, but will feature references to the characters seen in the first movie.

As of now, it is unclear whether Korine will be returning to this project in any capacity, or if the infamous James Franco character Alien will be involved in any way, shape or form.

Last September, however, Franco did tell MTV that there were plans of making a prequel.

Whether or not this comes to pass, it should be interesting to note that this movie will have some big shoes to fill if it ever can live up to the pop culture phenomenon which was the original movie.
