In an update on the filming of Star Wars: Episode VII, writer/director J.J. Abrams confirmed that the production is doing on location filming in Abu Dhabi. More importantly, though, he announced the launch of the “Force For Change” charity.

In the short video, Abrams said that Lucasfilm and Disney are launching “Force For Change” to benefit children around the world in dire situations. The charity was set up with UNICEF and part of the launch includes a contest at Omaze.

The contest is for a chance to for you and a friend to be flown to London, where you will get to meet the cast and crew and learn how the film is made. You will also get a walk-on role on the film. Each entry costs $10 and will come with a reward. If you donate $50,000 to the cause, your reward is an advance screening of the film in your hometown.

It’s been widely reported that on location filming was taking place in Abu Dhabi and this video finally confirms it. Filming will also be taking place at London’s Pinewood Studios.

Episode VII will open on Dec. 18, 2015. New members of the cast include Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac.
