Actor Tim Blake Nelson is reportedly in final talks for a role in The Fantastic Four reboot at 20th Century Fox.
If final negotiations don't break down, Nelson will be cast as Harvey Elder, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned of the casting news. Elder is described as a scientist who is eccentric and awkward.
He also happens to be Mole Man, though sources say he will only appear as Elder in the first film. In the comics, the Mole Man is the leader of the Moloids, who reside underground. His appearance would likely help set him up as a future antagonist in more Fantastic Four films.
If he signs on, Nelson will star alongside Toby Kebbell, who is onboard the film project to play Dr. Doom. The Fantastic Four are Kate Mara will play Sue Storm, Miles B. Jordan is Johnny Storm, Miles Teller is Reed Richards and Jamie Bell will be Ben Grimm.
Josh Trank is directing the reboot from Simon Kinberg's script. Kinberg is also producing the film alongside Hutch Parker.
The Fantastic Four is scheduled for a June 19, 2015 theatrical release.
