This coming week marks the end of the road for legendary broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, who announced last year that she would be retiring in 2014. Walters last day on air is Friday, May 16 as a co-host of The View. In honor of Walters final week, all 11 co-hosts in The View's history will be in attendance on May 15 to say goodbye to her. Currently, in it's 17th season, The View is hosted by Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. Past hosts include, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Joy Behar, Debbie Matenopoulos, Lisa Ling, Elisabeth Hassalbeck and Rosie O’Donnell. Walters started her career back in 1961 at the Today Show, where she became the program's first female to co-host. Walters then moved over to ABC where she is best known for her interviews on 20/20 and for co-creating The View in 1997. Over the years, Walters has conducted tons of interviews with actors, actresses, politicians, musicians, athletes and many others. Wintour's signature look includes her famous pageboy haircut and a pair of sunglasses. Wintour is known to have a demanding personality and Meryl Streep's character in the film The Devil Wears Prada is presumed to be based on Wintour.

In 1981, Walters interview the late actress Katherine Hepburn. During the interview Hepburn compared herself to a tree to which Walters replied "What kind of a tree?". Hepburn won an Oscar for her role in Morning Glory. She later won three more Oscars for her roles in the films Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, The Lion in Winter and On Golden Pond. Hepburn passed away in 2003 at the age of 96.

Walters interviewed champion boxer Mike Tyson and actress Robin Givens in 1988 for 20/20. At that time Tyson and Givens were married and during the interview Walters asked Givens if Tyson hits her and she admitted that she had become afraid of Tyson. Tyson and Givens were married for a year and then divorced. Tyson is a retired champion boxer who holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight championships. In 1977, Walters sat down with the late actress Lucille Ball. In their interview the two talked about Ball's life in television after her hit show I Love Lucy. Aside from I Love Lucy, Ball starred in The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and Life with Lucy. Ball was married to Desi Arnaz Jr. with whom she had two children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr.. Ball is considered to be one of the most popular stars and was nominated for an Emmy Award thirteen times, and won four times. Ball passed away in 1989 at the age of 77.

The interview was watched by 74 million people, which is the highest rating ever for a news program. Due to the scandal Clinton was impeached in 1998, but was acquitted in 1999.
