The conscience plays with the mind of a few of the main characters in this week’s new films. When morals are put into question, the characters learn more about themselves. A super hero battles between his everyday life responsibilities and those of a crime fighter.
Spider-Man faces his fiercest opponent yet in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now with his friend Harry Osborn back in the picture, Peter Parker discovers that many of his enemies are all coming from one place, Oscorp. Spider-Man’s abilities are put to the test when he battles the powerful Electro. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field and B.J. Novak star in the PG-13 sequel. The action/adventure is running for two hours and twenty-one minutes in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters.
A young woman battles breast cancer in Decoding Annie Parker. Facing the disease that took the life of her mother and sister, Annie is determined to be a survivor. She becomes the key to a geneticist’s study of the DNA link to cancer. The limited released drama stars Samantha Morton, Helen Hunt, Aaron Paul, Bradley Whitford and Rashida Jones. The one hour and thirty-one minute film is rated R for language and sex.
A news reporter is convinced by her friends to join them for a night on the town in Walk of Shame. The evening progresses into a one night stand and the following morning she flees from his apartment to make it to the television studio for a chance at her big break. Every attempt to get there is derailed by a series of ridiculous circumstances. Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden star in the one hour and thirty-five minute romantic comedy. The limited released film is rated R for language and sex.
A womanizing ladies’ man wishes away his penis in Bad Johnson. His wish comes true and his private part takes human form. Without being able to have sex, he learns how to bring his feelings into his relationships. The unrated, limited released comedy plays for one hour and twenty-eight minutes.
A snow plow driver flees into the woods following an accidental murder in Whitewash. Not knowing what to do and freaked out from the crash, he hides the body in the forest. His conscience begins to eat away at him as the police get closer to finding him. Thomas Hayden Church stars in the unrated drama. The film is running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty minutes.
A Royal Navy Admiral’s mixed race child, born out of wedlock, is taken in by her great uncle in Belle. Even though she was born into a privileged family, the color of her skin makes her more of a second class citizen in her household, just above the help. The PG drama is based on a true story. It’s playing in limited theaters for one hour and forty-five minutes.
The younger generation of farmers is the focus of Farmland. The limited released documentary follows the lives of six young farmers as they struggle with the Mother Nature to provide for their family. The unrated, one hour and seventeen minute film provides a new perspective on the agriculture industry.
A man goes on the lam after being accused of murdering an elephant camp owner in The Protector 2. Not only are the authorities out to get him, but also the nieces of the deceased. The limited released Thai film is subtitled in English. The action thriller runs for one hour and forty-four minutes. It’s rated R for violence and language.
The popular Spider-Man made his way back into theaters this week. On May 9, another beloved character, Dorothy, heads to the big screen once again; this time for a new adventure in Legend’s of Oz: Dorothy’s Return. Next week is also the realease of the comedies Neighbors and Mom’s Night Out.
