While teens struggle with adult problems, the adults are trying to act like youngsters in the new films out this week. A group of moms look to get away from their responsibilities and enjoy a night with friends while new parents try to prove that they’re still cool.
A young family discovers that a fraternity moved into the house next door in Neighbors. Despite trying to be cool, the couple realizes that they’re adults now and can’t stand all of the partying from the frat boys. The groups battle it out and try to one up each other to get the other to leave. The one hour and thirty-seven minute comedy stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Dave Franco. The film is rated R for language, sex, nudity and drugs.

Dorothy travels down the yellow brick road once again in Legend’s of Oz: Dorothy Returns. Shortly after her return to Kansas, the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man request her help in saving Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West’s evil brother, the Jester, who is casting spells all over the land. Dorothy reunites with her old friends and meets new characters on her journey. The PG animated film features the voices of Lea Michele, Martin Short, Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Hilty, Hugh Dancy, Oliver Platt, Patrick Stewart and Bernadette Peters. The family adventure plays for one hour and thirty minutes.

Overworked mothers get together and go out for a much needed dinner away from their kids in Mom’s Night Out. Leaving their children with their husbands for three hours, the ladies get more than what they bargained for as find themselves at a tattoo parlor and a police precinct. The PG comedy plays for one hour and thirty-nine minutes.

An 8-year-old boy goes missing in Devil’s Knot. Three teens are accused of murdering him and two other young boys in Memphis, Arkansas as part of devil worship. The limited released crime thriller is based on the real story of the West Memphis Three who faced a life altering ruling. Their conviction created an uproar in the religious town and throughout the country. The unrated, one hour and fifty-four minute film stars Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth and Stephen Moyer.

A teen girl struggles in love in Palo Alto. She has feelings for her friend but begins to start a relationship with an older man, her soccer coach. The coming of age story focuses on a group of high school students as they navigate through the pitfalls of growing up. The limited released film stars James Franco and Emma Roberts and is based on Franco’s book. The one hour and thirty-seven minute drama runs for one hour and thirty-seven minutes. It’s rated R for sex, drugs and language.

A man’s life is turned upside when a new co-worker, who looks just like him, enters the picture in The Double. Even though they look like twins, their personalities are the exact opposite which poses a threat for the shy and quiet man. The dramatic thriller runs for one hour and thirty-two minutes and stars Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska. The film is rated R for language. It’s available in limited theaters.

The late Philip Seymour Hoffman stars in God’s Pocket. In the limited released film, a construction accident is blamed for the death of a local man, but no one seems to care that he’s gone or the real reason behind his death. A reporter comes to town seeking the truth. The unrated drama co-stars Christina Hendricks and John Turturro. The limited released film runs for one hour and twenty-eight minutes.

A drama camp becomes the playground for a killer in Stage Fright. The daughter of a murdered Broadway actress takes on her mother’s last role in the camp’s summer showcase, but someone doesn’t want this play to be seen. Minnie Driver, Meatloaf and Allie MacDonald star in the limited released comedic horror film. The one hour and twenty-nine minute musical thriller is rated R for violence, language and sex.

The obesity epidemic is the focus of the documentary Fed Up. The limited released film suggests that a lack of exercise isn’t the reason Americans are becoming obese, it’s the sugar industry. The PG film plays for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

A killer is on the loose in Stage Fright this week, but next week, Godzilla is creating his own destructive path. On May 16, Million Dollar Arm also hits theaters.
