A lone man engaged in several drive-by shootings Friday night in Isla Vista near the UC Santa Barbara campus, leaving seven dead including himself. Seven other people suffered injuries during the shootings, with at least one undergoing surgery.

At about 7:30 p.m., 911 began receiving calls about gunfire and at two scenes the man got into small shoot outs with deputies on site. At the first scene, several victims required medical attention.

Police say that there are currently about nine different crime scenes under investigation following the shooting, reports the Los Angeles Times.

After one small clash with police, the man drove into a parked car and deputies discovered the man dead inside of a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities aren't sure yet if the man shot himself or if one of the deputies managed to hit him.

As police continue to investigate the shootings, it looks more and more like the whole rampage was premeditated, according to The Washington Post.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said at a Saturday morning news conference, "We have obtained and we are currently analyzing both written and videotaped evidence that suggests that this atrocity was a premeditated mass murder."

Some believe that a YouTube video called "Retribution," posted by someone who says their name is Elliot Rodger is possibly of the killer, notes KEYT. In the video Rodgers rants about rejection from women and says he will "punish you all for it."
