A teacher in Loudoun County, Virginia was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly showing up at school intoxicated and attempting to teach his second-grade class.
According to WBBF, school personnel at Pinebrook Elementary suspected that Michael Corbett was drunk while teaching the class and contacted the authorities.
Officers arrived at the school just before 10 a.m. and arrested the teacher who allegedly opted for alcohol instead of coffee that morning.
The 28-year-old was charged with being drunk in public.
ABC7 reported that Corbett also had a run-in with the law last year and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
His profile on the school’s website said that he had just started at the elementary school and was in his first year.
"Learning is fun. I am looking forward to joining the Pinebrook community to contribute some wonderful ideas. Together, we can work to make a bright community even brighter! My door is always open for you."
The profile has since been taken down.
