The White House went into lockdown on Thursday for the second time in only a few days after two people were witnessed tossing items over the fence. What was thrown onto the lawn has not yet been identified.
"An individual threw something over the north fence line and another individual threw something over the south fence line," Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said, according to The Washington Post. "They're both in custody and we're working to clear those items now."
After the items were thrown, the Secret Service temporarily shut down E Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 15th and 17th streets. President Barack Obama isn't currently at the White House as he's in California attending fundraisers.
The first lockdown occurred on Tuesday, reports The Associated Press, after a man attempted to follow a motorcade containing the president's daughters into the front gates. The person was stopped and has been charged with unlawful entry, which is a misdemeanor.
