Authorities have said that a woman was arrested at Philadelphia International airport on Wednesday after Transportation Security Administration screeners founded a loaded gun and a knife in her bag.
According to Philly.com, Kathryn Spiropoulos was taken into custody after a Glock Model 30 .45-caliber semiautomatic loaded handgun, with a magazine and knife, were allegedly found in her purse.
The 53-year-old was stopped as she was going through a checkpoint just before 7:00 a.m. in an attempt to board a flight headed to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
WPVI reported on Thursday that Spiropoulos is an employee of the Lawrence Township School District in Mercer County, New Jersey as the transportation supervisor for the district.
Police have not released further details about the incident or what Spiropoulos’ intentions may have been, but she did not have a permit to carry the firearm and will face weapon charges.
Officials have said that this is the fourth gun to be discovered in a passenger’s carry-on luggage at the airport this year.
