Everyone wants to know the secret to longer life and, well, the best place to ask would be the oldest person.
At 115 years old Jeralean Talley is believed to be the oldest person in the United States, according to The Detroit Free Press. She has lived and seen a lot in her lifetime and knows that the secret to a long and happy life is not one anyone here on Earth knows.
Talley was born on May 23, 1899, according to The Associated Press.
She spent her 115th birthday going to the doctor for a check up even though she says she’s in good health.
Her answer to why she has been able to live so long has never changed. She believes that it is all in the Lord’s hands.
People gathered at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Inkster, Mich. on Sunday, May 25 for a service that was in her honor.
She waited in front of the church’s office for some time as well-wishers poured into the church. Then when it came time for her to go to the altar, she passed up the chair elevator and chose to walk to the alter.
The determination to move when it would obviously be much easier to be carried may be the key to longevity. Even though the longest living Americans have a large range of backgrounds (smokers, drinkers), they all have one thing in common.
They all have to move, be active. Not for simply 30 minutes, but all day long.
