X-Men: Days of Future Past was obviously going to be a big hit over Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., but 20th Century Fox also wisely made a big push overseas. The film was released in 119 foreign markets, grossing an amazing $261.8 million worldwide.

Domestically, Days of Future Past grossed $90.7 million over the first three days of the weekend and is expected to hit $110 million over its first four days. While that’s easily among the best openings of 2014, Box Office Mojo does note that it is shy of the $102.8 million opening that X-Men: The Last Stand scored during its first three days in 2006.

The audience was 56 percent male and awarded the movie an “A” CinemaScore grade, so expect the film to stick around.

According to Variety, the film was the top grosser this weekend in all 119 foreign countries that it was shown in. Days of Future Past scored $171.1 million outside of North America.

Days of Future Past left everything in the dust, including Godzilla. The Warner Bros./Legendary movie tumbled 67 percent to $31.1 million in its second weekend. It’s expected to hit $39.4 million over four days. Overall, the film has made $156.8 million.

Blended was a complete dud for Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, only making $14.25 million. Notably, Neighbors added $13.9 million, which brought it past the $100 million mark.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 added $7.8 million, so it’s now up to $184.90 million in the U.S.
