Sci-fi fans will now have to wait even longer to get a look at the new Wachowski siblings film.
The new Wachowski film Jupiter Ascending, which was expected to be released next month on July 18, has been bumped eight months to February 2015, Warner Brothers has announced.
According to The LA Times, the studio’s president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman cited the need to finish visual effects as the reason for the delay.
“We’ve been trying like hell to get this finished,” Fellman told the LA Times. “But there are over 2,000 visual effects shots in the movie, and it’s just not gonna happen in time.”
According to Variety, Warner Brothers has seen a mixed summer with the financial success of Godzilla but failure of Blended, and Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow projected to disappoint this weekend.
Jupiter Ascending will star Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, taking place in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, and a woman becomes a target of assassination by the Queen of the Universe.
Jupiter Ascending will be released on Feb 6, 2015.
