The latest X-Men film has become the franchise’s most profitable installment after banking roughly $500 million during the film’s second week in theaters.
X-Men: Days of Future Past only pulled in about $162 million—32.4% of the film’s overall profit—in the US, according to Box Office Mojo, the film has earned over $330 million worldwide.
After passing the $500 billion mark, X-Men: Days of Future Past beat out past record-holder, 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, which earned $459.4 million, reports Variety.
Of course, Days of Future Past is still trailing past franchise releases X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand stateside, but the film’s only been in theaters for two weeks and is on track to surpass the franchise’s former releases.
Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg, cost about $200 million to make. The film stars several big names, including Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Peter Dinklage and Halle Berry.
