On Sunday, Tanishq Abraham received his high school diploma with a 4.0 GPA, making him one of the youngest people in the United States to receive a high school diploma. It was in kindergarten that Mr. Abraham realized he "had a special gift", and from age 7 through 10 he was homeschool by his mother. It is believed that this helped him excel even further than he originally would have in traditional, public school.
"Tanishq joined Mensa, a group for people whose IQ is in the top 2 percent of the population, at the age of 4," states The Washington Post. The achievement even reached the White House, and Mr. Abraham received a congratulatory letter from President Obama. "Congratulations on your graduation." It read. "This special occasion is the culmination of years of study, and I am pleased to join your family and friends in celebrating this milestone."
Currently, Mr. Abraham is finishing up classes at a local community college he has attended since age 7. "I am going to finish my community college by almost next semester and then I will have my associate's degree," he told ABC News], "after that I will transfer to university."
