Heavy rain has forced thousands of people in southern Brazil to evacuate.
Many people evacuated were in Rio Grande do Sul, which is an area where neither of the World Cup matches that took place on Saturday were.
In the past week, the rainfall was more than twice the average for the entire month of June, reported Yahoo News.
However, the flooding disrupted fans and the families of players from traveling to the game against the United States and Germany on June 26.
According to Belleville News Democrat , buses carrying the families of some players left early enough and were able to make it to the game on time.
Those who did not choose to stay at the hotel stopped to watch the game at a restaurant.
The ride to the game was longer than usual for players who were driving through the flooded areas.
Players were unable to do their usual warm up routine because of the conditions.
Players like U.S. defender Omar Gonzalez felt motivated when he saw fans appearing.
"I was listening to my music and I was looking out the window and I saw plenty of U.S. fans trekking their way to the stadium. That kind of passion to root us on really helped to drive us."
