AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson gave his fans an update on the group’s state on Thursday, assuring them that there might be an opportunity to see the group perform before the end of the year.

While Johnson didn’t make any commitments, he left a message on his Brian Johnson Racing site to thank fans for supporting his Cars That Rock television series. However, he said that his “day job” - which is singing with the best Australian hard rock group in the world - may keep him from making more Cars That Rock episodes.

“We hope to bring you more shows in the near future but, of course, there is the slight distraction of my day job with AC/DC – and it looks very likely that we will be on the road again before the end of the year,” Johnson wrote. “So stand by for more music – and more Cars That Rock.”

Johnson’s comments come just three months after there was concern that we may never see AC/DC perform together again. There were rumors that guitarist Malcolm Young’s illness would force them to retire, but the group said in April that he was only taking a break to recover. Johnson also said previously that they do plan on a 40th anniversary world tour and that they may make another record.

As NME points out, the “Highway to Hell” group hasn’t released a new album of studio material since Black Ice in 2008.
